Our core supports our entire body, and when we have a weak core, it can lead to a variety of different health issues. Stretching is also crucial to help keep muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and can often be overlooked. That is why our fitness center offers Stretch and Core classes — to put you in the best possible spot for achieving your health and fitness goals.

What is the Stretch and Core class?

This quick, half-hour fitness class makes adding a core workout to your daily routine easier than ever. Your instructor will carefully explain each stretching movement and core exercise so you understand how it works and why it’s so important to your overall fitness. Proper breathing, form, technique, and timing are all part of what you learn from your fitness trainer. To ensure your safety and comfort, members are encouraged to complete a 10-15 minute cardio warm-up before class, whether it be a brisk walk or some spin bike. The class itself features eight to 10 different core exercises, leading up to eight to 10 core-focused stretches. Benefits and safety are maximized as your fitness trainer leads you through 15 to 30 seconds per stretch.

Who should take the Stretch and Core class?

Getting older can sometimes means less activity, and it nearly always means reduced functionality and flexibility. That’s why people of all fitness levels who want to fight these effects are served well by the stretch and core class as part of an overall fitness routine. You can choose which level of difficulty is right for you for each exercise in the course, and the instructor’s class outline sheet will explain the difficulty levels throughout the class. Members who take the stretch and core class should evaluate which difficulty level is right for them based on what they are able to successfully maintain throughout the class.
